Owner Robert Garland started the company after a calling he couldn't ignore — a word from God to step out on his own. He stood in obedience to it, and Redemption Wood Repairs is the result. The name means what it says.
We specialize in the exterior wood most contractors don't want to deal with: fascia and rafter tails baking in the San Diego sun, decks and handrails gone soft underfoot, framing eaten out by termites, fences leaning further every year.

Look for paint that's peeling or bubbling, dark staining, visible cracking, or wood that looks swollen at the ends. The real test is pressing a screwdriver into the wood — if it sinks in easily, the rot is already established. From the ground, sagging gutter lines and gaps where the fascia meets the roof edge are also signs. In San Diego, sun exposure and termite activity are the two most common causes, and both spread further than what's visible from below.
It depends on how far it's gone. Surface weathering and small isolated spots can often be treated and sealed. But once rot has softened the wood structurally, that section has to be cut out and replaced — filler and paint over soft wood just hides the problem while it keeps spreading. We cut back to solid material and rebuild from there, replacing only what actually needs it.
Yes. Pest control companies eliminate the termites, but they don't repair what the termites ate. That's where we come in. We replace damaged fascia, rafters, framing, and trim, and rebuild it structurally sound. If you've had a termite inspection or treatment in San Diego County, we can handle the repair side.
Repair is almost always less expensive when the framing and posts are still sound — often a fraction of a full rebuild. If the substructure is compromised, replacement becomes the better long-term investment. We assess the framing first and tell you honestly which one your deck needs. A repair that buys five years on a failing structure isn't a favor to anyone.
Most single-section repairs are completed in one day. Full fascia runs or multiple rafter tails typically take two to three days depending on access, height, and whether painting is included. We give you a realistic timeline in the written estimate before the work starts.
